Summary of the Adobe Photoshop Basics Workshop

The Adobe Photoshop Basics Workshop, organized by the Centre for Machine Learning and Intelligence (CMLI) in collaboration with Scopik Edutech Pvt Ltd, aimed to provide hands-on training and practical demonstrations on essential Photoshop tools and techniques. The primary focus was to enhance students’ skills in digital design and image editing, equipping them with the foundational knowledge required for graphic design, advertising, and multimedia production.

Objectives:

The workshop was designed to bridge the gap between theoretical academic learning and real-world applications, offering practical exposure to Photoshop. Participants were introduced to various file formats, image editing techniques, and the use of object layers, fonts, and layer styles.

Key Highlights:

Introduction to File Formats: Participants learned about the differences between vector-based and pixel-based images, exploring formats such as PSD, AI, JPEG, and PNG. This foundational knowledge was essential for understanding different design applications.

Image Editing Techniques: The workshop covered key editing tools, including brightness, contrast, and color level adjustments. Participants engaged in practical exercises to enhance their proficiency in refining and correcting images.

Non-Destructive Editing with Object Layers: The session focused on creating and managing object layers, emphasizing non-destructive editing to preserve the original integrity of images while making creative modifications.

Fonts and Layer Styles: The final session introduced various text and layer effects, such as drop shadows and gradients, which can significantly enhance visual designs. Participants applied these techniques to integrate typography and style elements into their projects.

Outcome:

The workshop successfully provided students with a comprehensive introduction to Adobe Photoshop, improving their practical skills in graphic design and fostering creative expression. The feedback collected from participants indicated a positive learning experience and a strong grasp of the Photoshop tools covered.

This workshop was a crucial initiative in preparing students for future professional roles in design, multimedia, and related industries.
